Help us in welcoming our new Order Entry Specialist, Kristen Carlino. With an extensive background in the foodservice business, she's a great addition to Eaton Marketing. We sat down with Kristen for a few minutes to learn a little more about her, some of her hobbies, and some of the best advice she's ever been given.

Hi Charles! Can you tell us a little about yourself, your background, and what brought you to Eaton Marketing?

I grew up in rural Washington State and was raised on our family farm. After high school I went off to college at Washington State University with a focus on Food Science and Human Nutrition. During my college years I worked in the university dining hall as a manager and discovered my calling was going to be in the food industry.

Where have you previously worked that led you to Eaton Marketing?

My professional career started working for Marriot School Services in 1996 in schools foodservice management which later became Sodexo. I started as an Assistant Foodservice Director in Napa, CA in public schools. Soon after I was promoted to a Foodservice Director. In 2005 I moved to suburb of Kansas City to become a Foodservice Director at Blue Valley School District in Overland Park, KS. I enjoyed that role for 21 years while raising 4 wonderful kids. My wife and I decided in 2021 we ultimately wanted to move out of Kansas and settle in
Florida. We finally made the move in August of this year.

What skills or experiences from your past roles do you you think will be the most beneficial in your new position here?

All my years of experience in K-12 public schools and understanding the challenges and program dynamics I believe will be helpful in my new role as a K-12 school specialist.

What do you like to do in your free time?

Since we are new to Florida, we have enjoyed taking day trips to explore what the state has to offer. Prior to moving Florida both my wife and I both had Indian Motorcycles and would often take weekend trips and the occasional long multi state adventures.

Do you have a favorite sports team?

After living in Kansas for 21 years I have become an avid Kansas City Chiefs fan. Go Chiefs!

Favorite Vacation Spot?

My wife and l loved going to Aruba, but honestly anywhere tropical and I am game.

What drew you to Eaton Marketing and what excites you most about joining our team?

Prior to moving to Florida, I contacted a few local equipment reps and manufacturer reps that I have worked with over the years and heard from a number of them that Eaton Marketing is a great company and respected in the Florida market. Upon doing some research the company culture and values stood out as a good fit.

What Eaton Core Value speaks to you the most?

I would say, "All Others First" stands out to me. I have found that if you take care of those around you and go above and beyond and build strong genuine relationships you will get way more in return.

What is one fun fact about you that might surprise your new colleagues?

I spent a summer in college as a gandy dancer. If you are unfamiliar with that term, as I was at the time, it is manually replacing railroad ties and maintaining railroad tracks.

What is the best piece of advice you have ever received and how has it impacted your life?

Stay humble, be kind, and let your character speak louder than your accomplishments.
